Microlearning – A Small Format with a Big Impact

Microlearning – A Small Format with a Big Impact

With summer officially here, we’re all ready for holidays, road trips, and family vacations. How do you pass the time when you’re stuck in the passenger seat? My guess is that it’s not taking hours-long e-learning courses. But, if you found a short microlearning course that addressed a subject you’ve been stressing about at work, would you review that?

Microlearning has become a specialty of ours, and not because it’s simply the latest buzzword. It supports a variety of formats, helps reduce information overload, and is ideal for those moments when you’re stuck on a train, in a waiting room, or even in the passenger seat. In the last few months, we presented case studies on microlearning projects at ATD ICE, won an honorable mention for mobile (micro)learning from the International E-Learning Association, and continued to grow our portfolio with the development of microlearning games, branching scenarios, and interactive infographics.

Artisan E-Learning at ATD ICE

We were honored to have an opportunity to present not just one, but two sessions at the recent ATD ICE. In both sessions we discussed microlearning projects that yielded great results with our clients. Diane Elkins conducted a presentation that focused on microlearning with immediate application – a project we completed with Pryor Learning Solutions. Tanya Seidel presented with client LogMeIn on a microlearning project and template that was used to help onboard over 400 global employees as a result of a company merger. Both presentations attracted audiences of almost 500 conference participants. Our presentations represented 2 of around 15 sessions focused on microlearning. It was clear that microlearning is a trend that’s garnering attention from L&D professionals around the world.

Keep an eye out for upcoming ATD blogs authored by Artisan E-Learning that further discuss the benefits of microlearning and its effectiveness in organizations of all types.

Artisan Receives Honorable Mention for Mobile Learning

We submitted our Security Skills microlearning course for the International E-Learning Association’s 2018 E-Learning Awards and received an Honorable Mention for Mobile Learning in the Business Division. These awards recognize the best uses of technology to improve learning and job performance within companies or through individual professional development. We’re honored to be recognized by the iELA Awards Committee for yet another type of our microlearning efforts.
